Final Fantasy 4 and Seiken Densetsu in the NES
FINAL FANTASY 4
Everybody knows that Final Fantasy's saga has their mysteries each one more stranger. And I do not talk about the complicated history which have the games by theirselves, but the real world where we live, where we see new games that appear and disappear very quickly .
This is the case of Final Fantasy 4. In 1990 Squaresoft had obtained some important sales of Final Fantasy's saga in Japan, and in USA had just appeared the 1st part and it was not so bad. Its more direct competitor was Enix, who had another famous saga: Dragon Quest. Then, in Japan Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest was the best in RPG games, although Dragon Quest was a little more favourite by Japanese people.
Just that year finished, Square begins to program the future Final Fantasy 4 for the Famicom. They had thought about to make something very great, something which beats Dragon Quest. The proyect began well, and we could see a few first images of the future game. In addition, Nintendo sent to the market its Super Famicom, the new console of 16 bits, and Square planed to program a FF4 and Final Fantasy 5 simultaneously for this new console.
The proyect of making 2 Final Fantasy simoultaneously went ahead, for the Famicon and the other hand for the Super Famicom. In the middle of 1991 the things were going badly for Square: the games had to be by end of year and Square saw that they hadn't enough money , then they had to sacrifice one of the two proyects (Consider that Square of 1991 is not the Square of 2007, thinking about the money). How Super Famicom was the new console and a lot of japanese people had already left the Famicom , Square decided to left the FF4's work for the Famicom, and they renamed the FF5 of Super Famicom how Final Fantasy 4. Then, the FF4 of Famicom never saw the light, only a few images could be apreciated in some magazine, and the FF4 of Super Famicom appeared in Christmas of the same year.
Here there is another sad history referred to the disappeared Famicom, the big fish ate the little fish. How had been that FF4 of Famicom? May Square has a BETA of the game in their warehouses in Japan, in some dark place rotting with the humidity. Well, we hope that the rom see the light, someday.
SEIKEN DENSETSU
The case of Seiken Densetsu looks like a little . This game, which is of Squaresoft too, first was ideaded for the Famicom Disk System. The only certainly that exist is a Japanese publicitary pamphlet which was found recently in which the aforesaid game is anunciated and where says that the game will ocupe 5 disks, something never seen in a FDS. In addition, it says that 4 personages could be used simultaneously and even it could ask for the reserve of the game cheaper thant the future real price, in this case 5,900 yens. The game had to be appeared in 1987, but for the problem of the piratery which had the FDS, Square came back and the proyect was cancelled.
n So,there no exist any screen capture of the game because the proyect was never realizated. When Square cancelled the proyecto, they didn't cleared the trademark. The waited by the 1990 for a reciently arrived people at the company (a novices, obviousment) programated a game with the same name for the Game Boy. Then , in 1991 appear the Seiken Densetsu for Game Boy. Later was appear in USA with the name of Final Fantasy Adventure, for catch new players, and in Europe we could see it with the name of Mistyc Quest.
At least, this game appeared, although it doesn't looks like to the principal idea of they wanted to do, con la idea principal de lo que querían hacer, and it didn't appear in the FDS.
